Wes - Alenne and I pray for your recovery daily. You cannot know the how proud we of are you and the special place that you have in our hearts. Your story never ceases to impact me each time I read it and your desire to take tragedy and turn it into something positive continues to inspire me daily. From an old soldier to a young one – your courage and commitment humbles me. Keep facing forward and know that God is with you to take strength from in your daily struggles and that you also have us out here who are with you in spirit. I look forward to meeting you someday face to face. Janna Knutson 07/22/2008 08:14

Wes -- You probably don't remember, but I met you before you joined the Army. I used to work with your mom and have been following your service in the Army with great interest from induction to date (I am a former Marine and a veteran of the Persian Gulf War). Mary Buckles 07/22/2008 14:36

Wes: I know your mother and Aunt Patty. I was stunned to read today your story. I have a nephew in Iraq now and think of him often. When I think of him I will now think of you as well. I know your parents are working on a new home and I look forward to meeting you when you get home from Seattle. I heard once that the people who go through the most difficult times are very blessed. I know you will find your way in this world and recover. Many people are praying for you. My best. Gloria Maude Ertel 07/22/2008 15:37

We pray for you at night and often the kids will remember first- "pray for Wesley so that he will recover." You'll never know how many people you don't even know are pulling for you. I wish you all the best- stay strong. Tim Fennessy 07/23/2008 08:15

Wes, I remember meeting you twice. The first time is when you came by the office where your mother and I both worked. You looked like a nice kid. The second time was when you came by the office in uniform after finishing boot camp. I could see by the grip of your handshake and the look in your eye that you were now a brave, and confident young man. Keep up the good fight each day. Our nation is grateful and proud of you. You are in our prayers. Maureen Kirby 07/25/2008 10:10

Wes, What you did for our country was very patriotic. It was unfortunate that it ended up the way it did for you, but you fought for the freedom our country rightfully deserves. That in its self is highly commendable and took a lot of courage to do what you did. As well, as what you are doing now. God bless you! Katie Alexander & Amanda Allen 08/01/2008 17:05

Hello again Wes! I had to share some thoughts with you! We just had a great evening with Teri, Dick, Dianna, Sharon, Scott and your mom! We heard some great stories about you!!! Your mom radiates when she talks about you. She is so proud of you! I wanted to share with you that we typically don't attend church, but I felt compelled to attend this last weekend. I sent a prayer request on your behalf and you've inspired me to go. You, your story and your family have really changed my life! I feel so blessed to be a part of your journey. Your determination, will and perserverance inspire me daily!!!! I look at my 19-month old son and hope he can be as courageous and strong-willed as you are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to share in this experience and I look forward to meeting you soon! Nancy May 08/07/2008 08:24
Hi Wes, just wanted to send a quick note and hope you are doing better. Our family too has been affected by not only a death in Iraq due to a roadside bomb but I also have a brother who is a quadraplegic (since 1989). Just know it WILL get better. We don't always know what God has in store for us but believe that there is a purpose. My brother is leading a happy, active life and is probably happier than he has ever been. Terri R. 08/07/2008 12:03
Hello Wes, I know that we have never met but I heard your story and wanted to say thanks for everything that you do for our country. Im glad to her that you are doing well. I hope that you will get to go home soon. Thanks again Aunt Kara 08/07/2008 20:37

Wes, I am choked up as I write this comment. I don't even know you and just from looking at your slideshow it is evident that you are an amazing person. You are so brave and so blessed to have such an awesome family. I wanted to first Thank you so much for the service that you gave to our great country and secondly tell you that you will be in my prayers along with my brother who is a LCPL in the 2/7 brigade of the Marines. He is currently in Afghanistan as a machine gunner. You're story just struck so close to home as I live in Spokane and my brother is also fighting for our country. You're story is so powerful and will ignite others to work hard for what they believe in. Blessings to you and you're amazing family, I hope to meet you and you're family at your benefit auction and dinner. God Bless, Pamm Haslebacher 08/11/2008 21:56
Hi Wes. I met your mother in the Seattle airport last night and heard the entire story of your being wounded, starting with how she was informed that you were hurt, then her trip to Germany, than DC, than Seattle. Wow, you both have been on such a journey. Thank goodness for a mom such as yours. She is so proud of you! I wish you much luck in your recovery. Your mom was so happy to tell me that you have an incomplete break. ( now I know what that means.) I look forward to meeting you someday. I have a feeling you will be making a great contribution to society in the future. You have a quite a story to tell. Pamm Haslebacher Spokane. Lauri Clark Strait 08/12/2008 11:48

What’s up there kid. Im just sitting here thinking about seeing you again as soon as I can. Nice web page by the way. Any how, here is the quote for the day. “Its not the rewards in life that we are presented with and its not the fame or accolades that makes us the man. It’s the hurdles that we get over and the lives that we change on the way.” Not bad for a jar head right? Well I just thought that I would drop in my two cents and let you know that I miss you and am glad you are doing well. And by the way the jar head that wrote that is going to be the same one that kicks your but if you don’t call. Love ya and take it easy. carlos hafenmartinez 08/24/2008 12:28

You do us proud, a great credit to yourself, your family, your unit, the United States Army and these Great United States. Hey there kiddo. Just writing you to say hi and let you know that I am thinking of you. I miss hearing from you and can’t wait to see you. You have to know that I am proud of you and what you are doing in life. You’re a good kid Wes and you have a lot in life to still accomplish. The mountain is large and the path is rugged, but the reward in the end will be the fact that you did not quit during the journey.
